Rats, mice, and squirrels (all members of the rodent family) can devastate a home. They multiply quickly and chew on things non-stop. They are often responsible for house fires, water leaks, and hosting a variety of parasites & diseases. It doesn’t take long for a rat or squirrel problem to turn into an infestation.
Dr. Critter has spent 20 years refining a unique, structured program for solving squirrel and rat problems, and it is very effective. Our 4 step process is so advanced, in fact, that we are the only company confident enough to offer both a money-back guarantee and a warranty that can be renewed for life.
Our solution involves a comprehensive, multi-stage service model that is designed to be completed in a specific order and sequence. The program focuses on the total elimination of animals from the structure and permanent environmental correction to prevent future issues. We combine the use of advanced technologies with our proprietary techniques & products, then bring our extensive knowledge of animal behavior and 20 years of applied field experience to provide our clients with a guaranteed program that solves rat and squirrel problems permanently, every time.
We offer several levels of professional service with our rat & squirrel programs, so there is sure to be an option to meet any budget. If you’re looking for a permanent solution to a rat or squirrel problem, provided by professionals with a proven track record of success, call us today to schedule an inspection.
Many species of bats in the SE prefer roosting in buildings over trees & caves. As a result, we see ever increasing numbers of bat problems in homes, which can be both disturbing and dangerous. While bats are generally beneficial to our ecosystem, they are bad news when they move into a home. They not only introduce foul smelling guano and a multitude of parasites into people’s attics, but they often find their way into the interior living space. This is incredibly dangerous as a high percentage of the bats people come into contact with are infected with the rabies virus.
Bats, because they are so sensitive, so dangerous, and so easily spread to new areas, are the type of problem best left to an experienced professional to handle. Our programs are affordable, and most importantly – they work. We stand behind our service with both a money-back guarantee and a warranty that can be renewed for life.
Dr. Critter has put together a proven program specifically designed to solve bat problems and protect those living in the home. As part of this program, we address the full spectrum of issues surrounding bat infestations, including moving the bat population out of the building, securing the structure to prevent re-entry, and cleaning & sanitizing accumulations of bat waste and contaminated insulation.
The method, timing, and order of events is absolutely critical to a successful outcome. Any wrong step or bad approach can quickly cause a bat colony to shift or split and contaminate additional areas of the structure, leading to more work and more expense. Many of our projects involve situations where another company, or sometimes the homeowner themselves, have done things that made a problem worse than when it began.
If you’re looking for a permanent solution to a bat problem, provided by professionals with a proven track record of success, call us today to schedule an inspection.
Did you know that the SE United States is home to more species of reptiles than almost any other place in the world? Included in that group are 6 different types of deadly, venomous snakes.
A snake does not have to be venomous to be scary, or even dangerous. Many of the common snakes we find around homes are considered to be far more aggressive biters than any of the venomous snakes. Some common snakes are also great climbers, and it is fairly common for us to find them in customer’s attics & ceilings.
Since most people can’t accurately identify which snakes are deadly, which are aggressive, which are home intruders, and which are harmless, the safest thing they can do is try to avoid encounters in the first place. In fact, we get dozens of calls every week from customers needing snake removal a home or yard. What is the expression….an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?? Better to avoid a snake than to unexpectedly confront one and not know if it’s deadly.
Dr. Critter offers customers a fantastic solution to snake problems. It’s called Snake Shield. We first perform a structural & habitat evaluation to determine what should be done to prevent snakes from getting into a home and discourage them from making their home in your yard. We then attack the problem from multiple angles, focusing on both active and passive prevention models, leaving our customers with security and peace of mind. We are so confident in the effectiveness of our Snake Shield program, if an unlikely event occurs where a snake does get inside your home, we’ll take care of it for free.
If you are looking for a strategic, effective service to keep snakes away from your home, consider Dr. Critter’s Snake Shield program. Please call us to schedule an evaluation.
As we’ve mentioned, it is extremely important to take additional steps beyond simply capturing and removing critters and wildlife from your home. At the absolute minimum, we recommend allowing us to find the entry points that animals use to gain access. Dr. Critter technicians are fully trained in proper techniques to find, fix and completely seal any and all entry points. We’ll also do a full exterior scan of your home to point out any areas that could result in future wildlife problems. Our technicians are able to recommend prevention strategies that will ensure there are no available entry ways for animals to take advantage of in the future.
As you’ll see in the next section about waste clean-up, animals use their nose the way we use our eyes. They leave urine, feces, and gland secretions everywhere they go to communicate dominance and readiness to breed. These scent markings remain in a home long after the animal is gone. So even if all holes are sealed, the scents left behind will actively draw in more animals. These animals may try to gnaw and chew away at your home to gain access. To prevent this, it is highly recommended that you allow us to perform a thorough cleaning of the contaminated space.
Unfortunately, wild animals that have taken up residence in your home simply aren’t polite enough to step outside when nature calls. So not only are they turning your attic, basement, crawlspaces, and walls into their homes, they’re also using them as their toilets. Animals will leave behind large amounts of biohazardous waste, such as urine, feces, oils, parasites, hair/fur, and other bodily wastes. Not only can the waste pose serious health risks, but it also acts as attractants to other animals. Essentially, the odors and pheromones seeping from your home are luring other animals in by sending a message – something like, "hey guys, other animals live here so come on in.”
The amount of time the wildlife spent in your home, the more attractants are left behind. It is important to note that even very short stays will result in serious odors and waste remnants. Here at Dr. Critter, we offer full service waste clean-up and disposal including, but not limited to:
Animal and critter proofing your home and eliminating waste / odor are essential to preventing an animal or wildlife problem from reoccurring. But don’t forget about addressing any structural damage that your home or business may have sustained by the infestation of rats, bats, raccoons, armadillos, or other nuisance wildlife.
Many times wild animals will carry parasites. Well, after the animals and dead carcasses are removed, those parasites are still around and actively search for new hosts. The list of possible parasites transmitted from nuisance wildlife can include, but is not limited to bat bugs, mites, ticks and fleas. Mice or rats in your attic as well as bat infestations are often the cause of these pests.
As you’ll see by reading more about specific animals such as rats, squirrels, raccoons, and opossum, there is a very good chance that your insulation will be damaged and filled with holes and feces after an animal infestation.
Dr. Critter technicians are fully trained to restore your attic, remove the soiled insulation, and replace it with your choice of insulation products. We have excellent relationships with homeowners insurance companies in the areas we service and can work directly with them to help lower your out-of-pocket costs. We also offer gutter protection, attic fan vent guards, roof vent guards, gable vent closures and soffit vent repairs.
Odor is obviously a major concern when dealing with dead animal carcasses. But there are actually some very serious health concerns that can result from prolonged exposure to dead animals in confined spaces. The size of the animal, species, location, state of decomposition, temperature, and humidity all play factors in determining how long it may take you to notice the dead animal carcass.
Here at Dr. Critter we’ve dealt with just about every scenario of dead animal removal that you can imagine - from raccoons who got trapped behind walls to dead rats underneath carpeting. Some of the more common scenarios are:
Dead animals are often covered with parasites upon removal. Those parasites are known to carry and transmit diseases. We do not recommend attempting to remove a dead animal yourself without the help of a professional and without the use of professional dead animal removal equipment.
If you smell something that doesn’t seem right and suspect you may have a dead animal in your home or business, please do not wait any longer before calling 1-800-932-7287.
